Gunston Diamond
Field Renovation

Picture
                                                2016-2017:  Gunston Park Renovation
Originally slated as a Capital Improvement Project (CIP)
                       ($1.4M allocated to renovation)

Arlington Sports Foundation worked with Arlington County Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) to supplement          the costs of converting grass field to synthetic turf:
  •  Enables single purpose field (Adult Softball) to be multi-sport configured (for both Diamond and Rectangle sports use)
  •   Enables field to be available for use year round (Prior to renovation, field was unused from November-March)
  •   Allows for an additional 900 hours of additional field usage time
Arlington Sports Foundation spearheaded effort to raise $372k to cover “delta” between CIP funds and costs for synthetic turf
  • Youth Diamond Sports Leagues
  • Adult Softball League
  • Private Donations
Field was open for play in June 2019

                                                                                               WE DID IT!!!
